Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

I've noticed that if I get out of the truck while playing something via bluetooth audio it will pause once the truck shuts off. THEN when I get back into the truck and SYNC fires up it will reconnect and start playing where it left off. Aside from that I have to manually do it.

I cant believe its 2017 and this easy programming problem has not been fixed. That is simply ridiculous. Im in Canada and just updated to the 4.6 update on a 2012 F150 ecoboost FX4 with the voice activated navigation system. Of course, it's still defaulting to line-in instead of my last chosen source. What frustration! Funny thing is that the last update i did stated that this problem was fixed in the update notes (which it wasn't). Wow.... Disappointment is an understatement, shocked at the incompetence (not inability as this is certainly able to be done), of Ford to listen to their users. Approaching 90 pages of complaints on this thread alone for what is most likely an afternoon of work for one entry level Ford info tech guy...Unreal!

After the drive home from work this morning, me too. The one really good thing about Sync 4.6 was the Pandora integration... and it went to hell on me this morning.

I've grown so tired of this awful Sync1 system, that I'm working on gathering the intel to install Sync3 into my 12.

Yep, this is absolutely maddening!! I too have the 4.6 update and it still defaults to Line-in every time I shut off the truck. How could they not have fixed this by now!?

I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy a Ford again! If they can't fix something so simple how can they expect us to have any faith or loyalty?

I love it. I have had two Fords with the basic Sync. A 2011 Expedition and 2013 Fusion. This is the single biggest complaint I've had with either car, and I'm reminded of it every time I get in.

I upgraded to something like v3.6 a long time ago, and I started to look for an upgrade today. Now I understand that to fix the "sync line in" problem, I have to break the Siri functionality, not to mention breaking lots of other things. You know, the one thing that lets me bypass any need to talk to Sync except to say "bluetooth audio" every time I get in. Even then, now I realize it doesn't even fix that!

Btw, keep in mind Ford used to have a forum on syncmyride.com where they admitted they had added this "feature" of defaulting to line in because people complained that the default used to be BT audio or USB. This is a design "feature!"

I remember when they elluded to that but I don't EVER remember anyone complaining about it switching to BT by default... I mean seriously, turn your Bluetooth off if you don't want it to connect to the vehicle.

Hi all. Rarely post here, lol. I had the same problem with my truck ('13 screw XLT with the 4.2-inch MyFord screen) not defaulting to BT audio after turning off and restarting my truck. Very frustrating! Logged in my Ford Owner account and downloaded the software update to a thumb drive. Followed instructions to update sync software. Radio had never defaulted to BT audio before. Now it defaults to my last used audio device (Line in, BT audio, USB, etc.) with no issues! Feels like a brand new truck! A few weeks later, I encountered an issue with the up/down buttons not working on my radio. Had my dealer perform TSB 14-0159 and resolved that issue. Hope this helps someone out there!
