Default A/C question

Bought my used 2010 f150 fx4 4 door in january.. my question is when the a.c. is working properly does it cool the truck quickly . My old 2001 would freeze you out. The 2010 does not seem to cool off well. I have pulled a vacuum and weighed the Freon charge already so I know it's not low.. guess I'm trying to find out if the a.c. system in this model is weak or do I have a problem. Any help is appreciated

I read somewhere that the AC system is a little weak, but I can't speak to that.
Have you tried measure the air that is coming out of the center vent? Take the outside temperature into consideration and see how cold of air a good working ac-system would blow out.

After 15 minutes of idle and a little revving. 50 degree temp out the duct. It's 80 degrees outside. On high fan and max ac. I think something is wrong

Recheck going down the road, lots of air into condenser. (Coil in front of radiator)

50’f at idle does not sound bad. Drive it at highway speed for 20 mins, what is discharge temp? Fan on med speed. 40-45f AFTER CAB IS COOLED, is normal. (I don’t think you have a problem)

These f150’s have undersized A/C’s to help get .0000000001 more MPG. Thank your government and CAFE standards which Trump is trying to lower. Consider your A/C when you vote.

Democrats will next want to do away with your home A/C and give you a box fan. Given the chance, they will do away with car A/C’s completely. (Freon required) Roll your window down comrade. (Which actually introduces more drag than the A/C. But no evil Freon required.)

There is a mod that helps a little, insulate suction line (big pipe that sweats water)from evaporator (Cooling coil) to compressor, Cheap stuff from Lowe’s/Home Depot. Sold in plumbing department to prevent freezing water pipes. Just tie wrap it on.

Lots of people think the AC sucks in this gen.

If you do a little digging there is a gigantic thread that used to be stickied I believe. Lots of info and ideas in that thread

It is pretty amazing how they have managed to blame diesel engines for all their problems.

Update, so first off I am an hvac tech, work on commercial and residential ac systems everyday. I also have worked on many vehicle systems. When I removed the gauge fitting today there was an amazing amount of the green blacklite leak detector. It literally dripped from the gauge hose.the parts guy at Ford dealership told me that it is from the factory. I have never seen leak detector in a system unless it was injected by a tech. Any one can back me or the parts guy up. My theory is there is so muck detector in the system that the Freon can not evaporate as it should

It is indeed added by the factory. They started doing that in the late 90's - early 00's IIRC.
