Angry Backup Camera Quit Working

I've had my backup camera flipping out on me the past few days. I've not changed anything with the truck in quite a while so I don't think its something I've accidentally done. When I put it in reverse the screen will go black for a few seconds and the option buttons will be grayed out then it will go back to the normal display and put a message up saying.

Rear View Camera is unavailable / No signal detected from Rear View Camera

It did this to me a couple of times, worked then didn't work, it was annoying. Then it didn't work at all for 3 days. Backed out of the driveway this morning and it worked just fine, picked up the boss to take him to work and it didn't work again.

I've unplugged the connector at the tailgate and cleaned that all out to make sure there is not an issue there. The wires back there look fine also.

Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix? I've been searching since it first started but apparently I can't search correctly or something.

Should have added this is in a 2012 Platinum.

I've only installed aftermarket cameras, but my understanding is there is a signal switch that feeds into the back of your head unit. If that's come loose it could be the culprit.

All my searching then I post and then I find this one.

Now I guess I need to find out if this is the correct camera for my truck.

You should be able to chat with them and provide your VIN number.

I had this happen to mine. Same intermittent operation and message. Unfortunately it was a failed camera. Luckily I only had 35k miles, and they replaced it under warranty.

Unfortunately for me warranty is long over. Thankfully I found the camera for less than $100. So I will start there and see (cross fingers) that is what fixes the problem.

Have to laugh at all this. Got the new camera ordered and the darn thing started working again. So I let the camera sit in the box unopened on my desk since it got here. Like I said the camera has been working just fine. Well until yesterday when it stopped again. Looks like I am just going to go ahead and get the camera changed out and cross my fingers that it fixes the problem for me.

Mine did that crap too. I dealt with it for several weeks. I'd be prepared to go to the dealership in a Saturday morning, get in, and it would work perfectly the rest of the day. Then a couple days later, it would crap out again. It finally died and never came back.

Did your's end up being the camera itself or something else?

Yes, mine was the camera. The dealership replaced it under warranty, and I haven't had any issues since then.
