Picked up the truck this afternoon. I didn't get to talk to the tech that worked on it so I don't know what they did except for what I can decipher from the paperwork. I wrote a note for the tech to tell him to check the "misfire neutral profile" so I guess he got it. Here is a condensed report of what's on the paper work they gave me:

1. Customer reports shudder around 55 mph:
DIAGNOSE: Perform Misfire Profile, Adjusted air in tires to proper specs all were 5 psi low

2. Customer reports intermittent rough shifting:
DIAGNOSE: Reset KAM and Relearned

3. Customer reports rough idle:
CAUSE: EEC test PP Code P0306, Relative Compression all normal, Iginition code diag all pass, fuel pressure test normal at 68 psi, remove battery positive.

I guess they did the "misfire neutral profile" correction, but it sounds like they were trying to play it off as low air pressure in the tires (which is bs). Also looks like it was throwing a P0306 code. Not sure what that means or how they fixed it other then resetting it by removing the positive battery cable. I have a Bully Dog Watchdog that reads DTC's and I checked it before I took it in and it said there were no DTC's detected. I guess their equipment can find more codes than my Bully Dog.

I only drove the truck about 10 miles after picking it up and the shifting is smooth a butter. I tried to get it to shudder once, but I was on flat ground and am still not sure that issue is resolved. I have to drive 220 miles tomorrow so I will be able to tell if the shudder is better or not. Also the idle seems better, but I also won't be able to tell until I drive it some more. So far so good..... I will post another update tomorrow evening.

EDIT: I just looked up P0306 and it is a Cylinder #6 misfire. Looks like we are on the right track with the misfire correction.

See how much better the idle is and how much better the truck runs just from the Misfire Profile Correction? My tranny is shifting smoother as well as I stated earlier just from that process. Post back as soon as your done with the trip so hopefully we can at least get another confirmation regarding this as a possible fix.

My idle is really smooth now, but before it would be smooth for a while and then get really rough so I'm not getting my hopes up yet.

The shifting is infinitely better than before in all aspects. The truck doesn't hunt for gears and the upshifts and downshifts are smoother than ever. Even if the shudder is still there I think I made a small victory just because the shifting is so much better.

I will report back tomorrow as soon as I can. I will also have a report about fuel mileage because the route I am running I just ran yesterday. I will be able to compare as long as the wind isn't blowing too hard.

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread updated.

I chimed in earlier I also have this problem. I want to add that I can also make it "miss" while accelerating. There is a 30 mph zone that changes to 55 mph on my way to work, flat roads. If I slowly accelerate to get it to 40 mph so it shifts into 6th gear, I can REALLY get it miss/surge by pushing on the accelerator without downshifting(lugging in 6th til I hit 55 mph). Many times it is worse for me in this instance than going up an incline.

My dealer is supposed to come pick up my truck from work for me tomorrow on his way back from the auto auction and bring it to the dealership(nice having a great relationship with a dealer). We'll see what they find out. I had sent him an email with a link to this thread outlining the issue. He called me several hours after stating that they haven't seen this particular issue with any trucks, but were eagar to try and figure it out for me.

Do any of you know what this TSB is and if it would possibly have anything to do with what people in this thread are explaining?

Last I heard from my dealership, they are waiting on the update from Ford on why one bank of cylinders is misfiring. The impression I got is that it could be out this month sometime.

Just left my dealership with same issue been working on a fix for a few weeks. Tech said there are pages upon pages of tech reports dealing with this issue. Ford told them they are working on fix but could be 1-3 months.

Update: I drove 220+ miles today with no shuddering. Also the shifting and idle are still much improved. The truck seems to run better. I would say the low end torque is noticeably improved and the accelerations are smoother. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that the shuddering won't come back. We shall see...

It appears this worked for you as well, good news! Now the question that comes to mind, Is this a bandaid fix or what? The reason I state this is why is Ford coming out with a fix in 1-3 months as some have reported and yet this appears to fix the problem?
