I can't zoom the factory camera anymore, but i don't need to. The screen size without zoom is better than the zoomed 4.2" display. I regularly hook up my RV by myself using the camera and have no issues whatsoever. Can see the ball pretty clearly depending on the shadows/time of day

Depends a lot on the head unit.

Actually most head units want you to run a ground wire thru the parking brake in order to see video.. Kenwoods you can simply ground it permanently..poineer I believe still requires a parking brake sequence of actions.
The Pac kit had a setup to bypass that and simulate the parking brake actions. Not trying to promote it, only stating what's out there. I almost lost my kid do to video in motion, as mentioned, only takes a split second.

Got the stereo in today and the PAC kit arrives tomorrow.

All seems pretty straight forward except connecting the Red accessory wire to the Kenwood. There are corresponding yellow (constant) and black (ground) on the PAC harness but nothing corresponds to the red (switched) power.

The only other inputs that I'll be connecting are the Reverse, Park Brake and Illumination wires and then the SWC wire. Does the head unit get it's switched power from the SWC connection? There's no mention in the PAC instructions for obtaining switched power from another source.

There is a red switched wire on the PAC kit. You will have to run a jumper wire from the wire i mentioned to the reverse wire. I grounded out my parking brake wire to bypass that safety. I have not yet hooked up the illumination wire to anything.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

At this point all that I have are the PAC instructions posted on their web site. It's difficult to tell which wires plug into the SWC unit and which go to the stereo. I see one connector with red, black and yellow wires. That's probably the one you're describing.

Maybe I mis read somewhere. If the truck comes with a backup camera pac has a plug to RCA input. I guess if no backup camera you wold have to find a trigger wire for that.

Mine has the reverse camera but my JVC Head unit requires an activation via a 12v power to indicate the truck is in reverse. Some headunits can switch automatically via the RCA SIGNAL.

That connection should be in the PAC harness already
