2015 Dash kit

However, when I tore it into yesterday evening, the problem was much simpler.
The mini jack for the SWC wire had grounded against the metal frame of the dash. I had soldered the other SWC wire to the head unit's wiring harness and had neglected to secure the parallel mini jack wire.
I put a piece of heat shrink over it and now all it well.

Far as module going out, not sure I read much on that, some have had wires that were not completely connected

The only problem that I had with the PAC module was self induced. I didn't tape up the mini jack connector (solder the parallel wire, instead). A few days after installing the steering wheel controls stopped working.
It turned out that it had flopped loose and grounded itself on the frame of the dash. Easy fix.

Bought another PAC kit. Still no help, PAC support said it's my HVAC system not the kit. So I bought another dash oem kit and plugged it in as is, rear defroster works. Swapped all the OEM parts into the PAC kit..no work, put my original oem climate control into the eBay oem dash kit and defroster works with that. So I wasted almost 500 extra bucks on this and PAC says it's my truck. Said there are no other reported cases. Perhaps with your help, we can get them to fix this

I do have issues with my module dropping steering wheel controls. It works fine for about 4 days of driving the truck. Then gets very slow to respond and stops working all together. I have to pull the fuse or unplug the pac unit.
I have not had a chance to try the rear window defrost yet, I will keep an eye on it.

Just got my hands on my PAC RPK4 kit. Got the wiring harness spliced together.
Trying to decide how to do the backup camera. I'd love to replace my 300A tailgate with an OEM lookalike, but cheapest out there is $115. Which compared to $20 license plate cameras is hard to justify.
Wondering if I take a camera like this.
Take apart my current tailgate handle, and drill a hole where the OEM camera would normally sit. Would this cause the viewing angle to be too high?
I think it will physically fit, but if I am no where close to seeing the bumper, it might not help as much as I would like.
