Hey, folks. I'm getting ready to go this route.

I realize that I will be losing Synch (good riddance), the center channel, and the outside temp display (which I actually find handy).

Anyway, does anyone have anything to say about the Avic 5200 NEX? It's just what I'm looking for feature wise and the price keeps dropping. Does anyone have any have any compatibility issues to report?

if your going to use Android auto, it displays the temp right on the home screen. I look at my phone for temperature if I'm off Android auto...pioneer seems ok, better control than my Kenwood but others have them, don't remember issues...guys?

Two more thoughts before I pull the trigger:

1. Are the factory back up camera lines sent from the camera, itself or from some part of the factory 4.2" stereo?

2. Can I still zoom the back up camera to get a close up of my hitch?

Danka.

My factory lines are there but I cannot soon on my JVC. With that said the size of the picture is 4x bigger.

I have the 4200nex with aftermarket backup camera. The camera has the backup lines that I can not remove to use the ones from Pioneer. I do not have the zoom options but as mentioned previously the larger screen helps out. Getting used to also using Android auto for the temp. I was debating on getting a pioneer with the built in navigation but Android Auto and carplay both work perfect. I noticed the 5200 does not appear to have HD radio or HDMI. I found both to be useful.

Good catch. I didn't realize that you could watch videos from your Iphone with an HDMI adapter. Looking at the Kenwood DNX573S now, thanks!

I have videos you can play DVD or stream and unless your planning on parking to watch, is illegal...takes less than 1 second to lights out... sorry, off soapbox

A few more ???

1. Does the PAC kit automatically parse the reverse signal to display the backup camera or do I need to splice into the harness somewhere?

2. Along the line of Mudder's comment above, how do you tap into the parking brake to ensure legal (and safe) operation of an in dash DVD player? Or is that also taken into account by the PAC harness already?

I did find the reverse light wire for my head unit’s trigger wire in the drivers door sill area. I mentioned just this not 10 posts ago. The kit provides the RCA adapter for the camera signal.

I actually just grounded out my park safety function. I will not watch dvds while driving but I can now if need be. Was easier than trying to find the parking brake or park indicator wire.

Unfortunately i too am having the steering wheel controls issue after the last few days. It is intermittent to unusable now.

Careful on the 5200NEX if you plan to use android auto, i believe only the 4200 and 8200 support android auto. (Carplay works on more head units) , I believe it is a screen size thing when i was doing my research.

I have the factory reverse camera and it automatically comes on when i put my truck in reverse.

I am only allowed to watch videos when parked and i did not have to do anything additional. You have to do the extra work if you want to bypass the this, no extra work to have it operate legally.
