The Ultimate MPG thread.
Stock Wheel/Tire setup? I've been trolling the forum finding other 5.0 mileage. Granted i'm running 33" X 12.5" X 20" Ridge Grapplers, but there's no way i can break 20mpg above 65mph. City driving i stick around 14.5mpg, and that's driving like a grandma's grandma.
2018 SCREW 4x4 HDPP truck with 3.73 gears and elephant mirrors. Averaged 18.5 on my first 500 miles. Averaging 20.3 mpg for the most recent 350 miles (included 80 miles NJ highway in rush hour, meaning anything from stop and go to 80 mph. The rest was a mix of country roads and city). Not broken in yet. I'm more than please with how it's doing.
I have a '98 F150 with 4.2L engine, that had some changes made about a year ego, one just had to and the other because I wanted to.
The muffler busted open had to be replace, didn't feel like to have some Midas or whatever muffler. I got a free flow SS muffler from the web. The new muffler definitely changed the sound of the truck. Incidentally, I decided to switch to synthetic oil at around the same time.
Prior to the changes, on a full tank (30 gallons), I could go around 220 miles, mainly in city traffic before getting ~24 gallons refill. After the changes, 260-280 miles with a full tank with the same refill.
It's still lousy mileage, even for an old truck, but I do have a led foot on the right side. And no, I did not change...
