size matters !
It is. But I don't use my truck for my job either. I bought to pick up mulch, straw, or any lumber I may need. taking my lawn mower to the shop, or hauling my atv, those wouldn't fit in the bed of my truck anyway, so I use my trailer. Not like I tow it around empty just in case I need it.
Down here plumbers, electricians, contractors and such that have the crew cab for employees to get to a job site almost always have a headache rack for carrying, ladders, long pipe, conduit etc, seems to work well for them.

I agree completely. I fully understand the longer bed trucks, and don't at all question their convenience when used as a work truck. Was more or less defending the shorter box being just as practical for certain people. Like you said, it's a lifestyle thing, and it's whatever suits your lifestyle. One certainly is superior to the other.
As per my pictures, it suits my lifestyle just fine. Goes to work everyday, gets washed every weekend, has one half dollar sized scuff, the baddest car seat for the prettiest little daddy's girl, a pintlehitch and knowledge of towing whatever I want to hook to it.
