Well, no matter what women say, size does matter. That being said, I've owned everything from a RCSB, to Supercrew eight footer. Unless you live way out in the sticks, or have real bad case of short dick syndrome, the screw-LB is just too much of a pain for normal living. A SCAB-6.5 works for me.

Most plumbers in my area use a van and/or an enclosed trailer, for the extra convenience of space, and ease of hauling all of those little couplings, fittings, clamps. No real place to put and easily work out of the bed of a truck.

All my previous trucks have been 8' beds. Actually most of them have been Regular cab long beds. Wasn't until I got my powerstroke that I got a super cab. Part of me wishes I would have gotten the longer bed cause the 5.5' is short. I don't haul as much stuff as I used to but every now and again I do and the short tiny bed doesn't cut it. The super crew with the short bed sure does fit in the garage nicely with plenty of room to walk around both ends of it. Also having all the extra room in the cab to haul people or groceries is nice.

a 5'5 bed with the tailgate down is almost 8', which is just right for the occasional load of 2x' or plywood.

and it's much easier to park when you live in a city, while still giving you all the advantages of a truck.

But towing is a PITA. Having to park with a trailer and than of course your gas miliage goes to hell. Don't get me wrong a have a 6x12 enclosed dual axle for when I need it but I appreciate my long bed when I don't need it. Than again I use my truck to do my job.

An SUV with good towing capacity would have cost twice as much as my F150. Resale value is better on the truck.

I wanted the short wheel base for easy everyday driving and parking, and I chose more cab rather than more bed, because I use it more often.
