conventional oil
With oil the more important issue is to religiously stick to a maintenance schedule that includes also changing the filter.
Type, brand, etc. are outweighed by the above.
Me ... Have always been a conventional oil (Pennzoil) user (~50 years). Started using multi-grade (5W30) in 2002 with the purchase of a 2003 Crown Victoria - has 120,000 miles and according to the last BlackStone oil analysis shows no wear. Same holds true for 2011 F-150 5.0L with 30,000 miles.

I've done it in 2 vehicles, I've mixed the 2, and I've mixed weights. Both vehicles still run great. One I still own the other I've sold.
You'll find on these forums lots of people really over kill it when it comes to oil recommendations.
If anything at least stick with correct weight required.
