Lot's of trucks are just soccer mom vehicles these days. But with bed extenders you can still fit quite a bit in a 5.5' bed. However, I'll always own a truck with a 6.5' bed.

I tend to agree but like a little extra cab space and still fit in the garage so it's a SCab with 6.5 ft for me.

Ditto for me but like having a little more cab space so super cab for me, with tailgate down 4x8 sheets of plywood fit nicely.

I traded in a people hauler 04 Explorer with 3rd row seating for my truck.

Unless you haul plywood, 2x's etc that are 8' long all day long you don't really need an 8' bed
I needed Supercab for my kid + more room in the cab
Also went for the 6.5' bed, works for the amount of hauling I need to do
Next truck will have to be a Screw as the kids getting bigger
Screw w/6.5' bed is over 20' long, 5.5' is 1' shorter
Many garages simply won't fit a Scab or Screw w/6.5' bed
I built my garage 36' deep so no problems

Having a family makes a 4 door truck more practical for my needs. My utility trailer can be used for anything that won't fit in my bed, cause you know trucks are kinda designed to tow as well.

Pretty smart move on Ford's part creating so many different configurations for so many different people and applications, everyone wins!
