Yep and is what usually confuses a noob tech, because they try to activate either but haven't selected to turn the option on yet, You have to activate THEN select which to use.

Either way, very frustrating...

I worked for Toyota a Parts Counterman, Assistant Manager and Manager over my 17 years in the business and had any of our advisors ever told a customer "no" after being told numerous times that they've heard it can be done and seen mention of it on numerous forums, that advisor would have needed to answer to someone for that... It's simply unacceptable...

Well the issue is factory warranty pay scales, tech's spend 1/3 of their lives away from family/loved ones in schools to keep up with current technology and when they get back on the line, they get hammered with ridiculous pay for warranty work. Where they use to get 18hrs for a particular operation, all of a sudden they get smacked with 6hrs on the pay check.

It don't take long for them to get fed up with choosing whether to pay the light bill or buy more groceries so the dealers can only afford to employ high school drop outs or equivalent.

Some dealers will bend over backwards to retain a seasoned well trained tech so it's basically a matter of finding that dealer/tech.

I left after being hit with 8hrs flat rate pay for 24hrs (3 days) of work.

I can definitely understand that. But what I'm talking about is the average Joe walking in or calling the dealership and speaking to a Service Writer, not a tech, and being told it can't be done.

Even when I called my local dealer I was told "I don't think that can be done" but armed with info I read here and other forums I called a fellow Range Safety Officer who just happens to be the Parts Manager at that dealership and he personally went to ask the shop foreman and called me back to tell me it could be done.

Sorry I'm derailing this thread...

BOTTOM LINE, MY FELLOW F150 OWNERS, IS THAT DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS *C*A*N" BE TURNED ON OR OFF AT YOUR FORD DEALER. DON'T LET THEM TELL YOU NO. (but prepare to pay at least 1/2 an hour of labor)

The service writer at the dealer I worked at use to be a butcher for Piggly Wiggly. He didn't know shat about anything other than how to cut meat and to answer a phone and relay information from the tech about what's what. So having a tech on staff that can tell them what they need to know is essential.

There is/should be a chain of command in place or the whole operation fails, if the tech don't know his *** from a hole in the ground that will trickle down to the customer.

You have to go to a dealer to have them activated. If they say they're not sure it can be done, show them post #29 in this thread.

Dealer or independent mech shop with IDS can handle the procedure. Or even your next door neighbor. The key is having the right equipment and knowledge to use it. I have my own IDS because I wanted full control of every system in my truck, the Ford tech in me caused it.

You can buy one as well but it ain't cheap. This is the one I have.. https://rotunda.service-solutions.co...?SKU=164-R9807
You also have to buy a software license and that's about $800/yr.
