I just went to my local dealer Saturday morning and had mine activated on my 2013. I was watching the tech as he hooked up the computer to my truck and navigated the menus. When he got to the DRL function menu there was an option to use the headlights(at 80% power) or amber lights. I chose the amber lights since I plan to add HID bulbs to my truck soon.

Disclaimer, this is all applicable to a halogen equipped vehicle. I'm not sure the options on an HID equipped vehicle.
Curious what they charged, here on the south shore they get $90 to do it. I do it for others for $75. I have same computer the dealer uses.

I had a guy roll in from Mississippi doing some French Quarter touring and he had oem HID, there was no option to use the heads, only the amber turn lights. On my truck that I converted to oem HID I can use them but the lower voltage to the ballasts would probably not be a very good idea.

Texas $99.99 for IDS consult. And that doesn't guarantee they fix an IDS issue but thanks to this forum I can provide instruction should they need it! Thx guys an gals!

Two dealers in TX said the option to turn DRLs off is not available and that they are on as a safety feature. One hooked up to IDS and looked and said the option couldn't be enabled. This sound "janky?"

Since I just had my DRLs ENABLED last weekend on a 2013 XLT SCrew that didn't have them enabled from the factory and was standing right next to the tech as he sat in my driver's seat with the IDS hooked to my truck and I watched him, with my own eyes, navigate to the Body Control Module menu and saw the options to turn on/off DRLs with the sub-option to use the headlights or the running lights, Id say YES. That does sound "janky". If they can be turned on as they were for me, then they have to be able to be turned off.

I even went in there not knowing if using the running lights instead of the headlights was an option. That's what I wanted and had hoped/heard was an option but wasn't able to confirm it until that point. Even the tech wasn't sure it wasn't an open until he went into the menus.

I don't remember the exact path but it was in the Module Programming menu.

Should be in Module Programming> Programmable Parameters> Exterior Lighting. The latest vehicle I've had IDS hooked up to is a 14 so I'm not certain on any later year model. Logic and 11 years as a Ford dealer line tech suggests to me it should be the same.
