Sheesh, i didn't think this would blow up like this - i will absolutely try and connect Forscan in the next day or so and at the very least, rule out my specific 2012 engine as having a switch or a sensor on it.

I think it's just one guy who assumed that because he saw it on one vehicle that it was possible on all vehicles. Thought he had a "win" but doesn't seem likely.

It's your time to spend if you're that curious. Factory documentation sez "no".

I'm always curious

I'm going to need to do some logging shortly anyway, so it won't take another minute to check this data point, at least then we have literal proof.

I just went out to my 2012 Eco with Forscan - you can NOT read oil pressure!

You have oil pressure % - which is 61% at idle and does not fluctuate with quick throttle input.

Oil_P_Low - which is off because it wasnt low

Oil_Low-Sw - Not Low (low pressure switch)

there are no other pids when searching "oil" or "pressure", there is not an EOP pid

gotcha.

I have nothing in this thread, but do have a few questions. What EB versions use variable volume oil pumps? How would a pressure sensor read oil pressure of a variable volume pump? Could ford have used an on off sensor to prevent customer confusion with a variable pump pressure output? KM

I think all the engines post 2011 are variable pressure pumps, even my Coyote is.

Pressure sensing isn't on/in the oil pump, so no issues there, it just senses the pressure in the system after the oil filter.

What I had thought. And reading pressure on a gauge would probably be mis-interpreted by an old school user due to fluctuations (I'm guessing here). KM
