Cummins Vs. Powerstroke
Thewrub: ford had no option just as cummins had no option but to change due to governmental bullcrap. Neither engine met emissions difference is ford decided to rush an engine out (bad move) and dodge/cummins decided to pay a penalty for each truck produced. Owner of cincinnati radiator has a 7.3 with 560k on it NEVER been worked on not even injectors. So yes the 7.3 and 5.9 were reliable as hell BOTH being great engines.
I had the new 6.7 and traded it after six months because it was always in the shop. Everyone else I have talked to loves theirs. There has been several new 6.7 powerstrokes breaking valves. I had several 7.3s and they may not have been the most powerful powerplant but definantly where reliable except under valve cover wiring harness and cps censor. The 5.9 cummins was a great engine but the 6.7 cummins has been doing not so great either. Melting pistons and other issues. EPA sucks. 5.9 in an 05-07 ford would be a great truck

Everyone gives all 6.0s a bad name. My dads got an 06 and it's had no problems except for the FICM. 05 and newer had most of the problems solved. I know my dads rides sweet, tows sweet, and is very quick and he only has a programmer. there are some people that will tell you a 6.0 with head studs, an egr delete, and a replaced FICM is bulletproof. Once these mods have been done there will never be any problems out of the motor. My dad has had a 7.3 and this is his second 6.0 (got a new one because he wanted different color paint, different color interior, and swap from 350 to 250 for a better ride). The 7.3 was a great truck but he wanted to upgrade to a crew cab from extended. I personally love the 6.0 and think it's much better than his 7.3 was. The 6.0s are also the best sounding diesel engines with a straight pipe. My dream truck would definitely be a 6.4 with a Spartan though. Can't beat those.
Bcangelo. We are a major market area for fords. I know 3 factory reps personally 2 instructors involved with project "scorpion" and none of them have seen any failures out of the new ford 6.7 they hook me up with info on failures for diagnostic aid. Not saying your not telling the truth. Just saying what i know. You should have asked ford to buy it back since your dealer obviously could not fix it. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

You're right about the sound of the 6.0's I used to go to a few diesel events and they always sounded the best. The cummins sound like a turd.
I was running the spartan programmer with mine and loved it. Sounded great straight piped.

I ran the 250 tune most of the time unless I was towing then I ran the 210 tow tune. Never got the higher tunes as I didn't wanna damage the trans. 511hp was good for me. Buddy of mine does customer support for spartan and they tested new tunes on his truck so he has the big tunes and built tranny. That thing is nice.
