There's no doubt a cummings is a great engine but a tug of war like this is dumb as there are so many factors that can make it easier for one or the other. If you notice the hummer's tow point is higher so its lifting the rear of the 250 giving it less weight and less traction. The hummer runs 37x12.5 tire giving it way more traction than the 32 or 33x 10 tires on the 250. The hummers drivetrain is way better than the 250 with really good LSD's too. Then a trick with this if anyone ever gets you to tug of war is hold the brake until the other truck starts spinning its wheels and has lost all traction and walk away with it which is what the hummer did.

My dad had a few of the H1's back before the H2's came out and I can vouch that they are in a whole different league than a normal 4x4. They'll pull the ***** out of a rhino.

Here's something to prove my theory. A 6cyl cummings lost to a PS. Shouldn't the Dodge kill the PS if a 4banger could be an 8?

My friend had that except jacked up more. He took a turn to fast in it, never touched his brakes. Had his seatbelt on, but it didn't lock up and he got thrown out into a clump of cedars which are what stopped the truck from rolling over him. Broke his ankle upon landing, one of my friends watched this entire ordeal unfold from his lifted 03 Ram 1500. Well we were messing around with it at the body shop that parted it out. He was trying to see if it was still around because he wanted to drop that ISB into his 06 Ram 1500. Hard to kill a good diesel.

It's all about the weight. The Dodge is believe it or not about a 1500 lbs lighter. Tug of wars don't prove much because of this. The truck that can wait for the other to break free first will always win. They are more just very entertaining ways to watch something break. Proper way to compare, hook 'em up to a sled. Still you can go back and forth even then, especially once you get past the stock class and into the modded class.

Yeah in the end it comes down to taste and if someone was to give me any of the three big ones (ford, dodge, chevy) I would be happy with either.

Here is also the big thing to look at, these engines are much more capable than the drivelines put behind them. Most of your standard semi-tractors run between 500-600 hp on massive 14L,15L, and 16L engines (some being I6's, some V8's, some V12's). My friend with his LBZ has less than $600 into his engine and is making around 460 hp. His goal is to go to twin turbos, and 500 cc injectors to hopefully get around 700 hp. Making power on a diesel is cheap and when compared to tractor engines, these are some of the most capable engines on the market today whether it be a Cummins, Powerstroke, or Duramax engine.

But they are also making 1500 lb ft of torque

Yeah, your right there are so many factors that play into tug of wars that honestly I really dont think it proves anything because if the trucks are close in power all it really comes down to nothing but traction and weight. I saw a video of a dmax and cummins hooked up via a stiff bar connected through the tow hitch and as soon as the cummins started to go you could see the rear end of the dmax slightly lift and the cummins just pulls away.

And as far as that hummer vs. the ps there is no doubt that the cards were stacked in the humvee's favor lol.

Personally I would take a 7.3l powerstroke over any cummins any day. You really cant kill a 7.3l. But overall I think cummins has had the most consistency. But this year the 6.7l powerstroke I think is the best diesel. The 6.0l was just bad, but they did make a mean turbo whistle.
