Default trailer module recall

I tow a lot in the summer so I went in the dealership and had the software update done. Seem fine when I left. Some reason I decided to check my phone ford app. It shows software update failed. Seems to be ok. Phone now shows no recall open. Wonder if first attempt failed and then corrected later?

Pretty sure there is a thread on this already. Also just take it to your dealer and they will do it for you.

Default Trailer module recall

I also tow a good bit in the spring/summer took the truck in for an oil change and this recall 2 weeks ago my dealer calls me and proceeds to tell me the day before my appointment ford has froze all trailer module recalls. So I now need to return the truck to the dealer ounce the freeze has been lifted. The service tech said it might be an over the air update, buts it’s been months since I got one of those. I am still waiting on parts for the rear end, and let’s not forget the fuel pump recall that they haven’t even figured out a fix for.

Yup. We took a Navigator in on trade that had a recall that needed to be done before we can resell it. I asked him if he could knock it out real quick and he agreed. Made the trip here more worthwhile for him.

Update done on Friday at the dealer - . Sunday hooked up the trailer. Shows active trailer on towing screen and cross traffic disabled - trailer attached. Light check - all good. Move the gain switch ( no trailer attached). Shut off the truck and turn it back on - same thing. So all lights work just no surge brakes. No choice - just drive knowing no trailer brakes. get to the track while down time I turn truck off/on no changes. unplugged trailer connector and plugged back in - no change. did it a second time and now shows trailer attached. drove home no issues brakes working fine.

Just to be clear - I select a trailer - and it shows active trailer. Instrument panel shows trailer attached cross traffic disabled. All lights on trailer work. The only way I know brakes are not working is if I test the gain switch - shows the gain bar but underneath no trailer connected

My dealer told me last week that the software fix was tainted and had to be revised.

Default Problem with trailer running lights

The Ford mobile tech came out to my house to address a couple recalls. Moonroof and trailer control module. Only took a few minutes. A couple days later I hooked up my RV trailer and I have no running lights on the trailer. Brake lights and turn signals work fine. Checked the lights on my trailer and they all work. No voltage on the pin for running lights on the truck. Called the dealer and they sent another tech out the following day. Tech was unable to fix the problem. I have an appointment to take my truck into the dealership tomorrow.

Anyone else having this problem?
