Sounds like it's probably better just to leave the truck alone. I have not had the OTA update and don't plan on taking it to the dealer. Mine works fine.

Yeah, that’s what I’m trying to figure out. I’ll see how things work when I pick up the rig. As I’ve said in a previous post, I had this recall done in 2022 and things have been flawless. Don’t understand why it’s an issue again.

Good Question. Ford probably does not even know at this point.

If I start having issues. I will just go with an after market brake controller.

I had the Redarc Towpro in the Ranger and I loved that thing. I could care less having it integrated into the truck.

Current update. Hooked up truck and trailer in the morning - all is fine. reach my destination . A few hours at the track and load up the trailer. everything is fine.... Go a few blocks "trailer disconnected" appears and my tell tale idiot light is not on. No electric brakes. Luckily on a side street so I stopped the truck turned the ignition off. Restarted the truck - everything working again - hour drive no issues

I was thinking ( bad idea) when I first purchased the truck in 2021 I had an issue. When I would park the truck with the trailer attached then lock the truck remotely- about 20 minutes later the horn would blow and lights flashing. In my ford app on phone shows trailer is disconnected.
Believe some Ford Engineer thought this would warn of a trailer theft in progress. Wonder if they tried fixing this issue and that's causing the other problems? My solution at that time - either not lock the truck or disconnect the trailer before turning the ignition off.
In the pit area said to myself what idiot is not turning his alarm off - and finding out I am that idiot!)

Ultimately the selling dealer called me back.....But by then I had moved on to a closer dealer who even said they'd give me a ride back home after I drop the truck off. Its going to get the trailer module reset, the self dropping tailgate repair, and the sunroof check done. The fuel pump recall has no parts available yet but should have in June.

So, I finally traced the problem, and it was a broken wire in the trailer, not any issue with the truck. I owe an apology to Ford on this one. I will be towing this weekend to West Virginia so I will see how it goes. On a side note for those of you who get the update done by the dealer. The recall won't disappear on your app until Ford pays the dealer for the service. The dealer informed me of that.
