I think it does so well in those situations because at ~50 MPH it can still use electric only mode a decent amount. Get it on the interstate at 65+ and it's not going to be able to do that.
Easy to forget wind resistance. Everything you noted applies but wind resistance kills mileage especially in non-aerodynamic vehicles with huge frontal surface area. And the faster you go the bigger the penalty.

having had a 21 and now have a 24 they changed how it operated a bit and made it closer to how the other ford hybrid vehicles work. with my 21 it almost never went to electric only without me touching the brakes but my 24 will go electric just from me taking my foot off the gas pedal just like with my 20 fusion hybrid. my 21 I managed to get 27.1 at the highest and 24-26 multiple times. so far my 24 is at 22 and slowly going up as I drive it more but I have only just now hit 2k miles on it.

For whatever it's worth, today I logged a 402 mile round trip from SW PA to the eastern WV panhandle and back and got 23.9 mpg (with the AFE fuel bias corrected on my on board computer) on my 3.5LEB Crew Cab 157" WB 4x4 non-PowerBoost engine with a 3.31 axle. I've gotten similar results on other highway trips. My spreadsheet calculated lifetime mpg at just over 50k miles is 21.05 mpg. I think gas mileage is not the carrot for getting a PowerBoost.

My bias against the Powerboost as a used purchase is that some early adopters had issues with systems that dealers couldn't or wouldn't touch/Fix. More recently the complaints have been fewer in number with the 23 and onwards.

I still say, keep it simple, get the 2.7.

I was confused by that comment you could get a Super Crew with a 6 1/2' bed just not an 8' bed that would have to be a Super Cab or single cab!!

My Supercrew 2.7 had the HD frame so, not sure where you get your info from.

To the OP, if you want a 6.5 ft bed with a 2.7 it will have to be a Supercab.

Only the smaller 5th wheel trailers will have pin weight within the capability of ANY non-HDPP F150. And don't just go by what the label says. Plan on it being considerably heavier. In reality consideration of any sizable 5th wheel camper being towed by a non HDPP F150 is pretty dumb.

As for the power of a 2.7, 400 ft-lbs in front of a 10 speed transmission is not a limiting factor. The rest of the truck is a limiter though.

Don't wish to start anything but OP wishes to have a LARIAT.
Supplied the link to the Ford F150 build and price. Please try to build a SUPERCAB LARIAT and please post your results.
14 Gen Ford dropped the SuperCAB LARIAT.

Yes for 24 there is no Supercab Lariat, and the 2.7 is also not available with the Lariat.

But In the first post the OP said 21 or 22. I am pretty sure a Supercab 2.7 Lariat was available in 21 and 22.

But my post quoting what you said was only in reference to "2nd the 2.7EB in stock Lariat form has the 6600#GVWR which is also the lightest frame in the F150 line up" of which is not true.
Then again the OP never posted back so this whole conversation is probably pointless.

SuperCab Lariat was available on the 14th Gen, but only for 2021-2022. It was dropped for 2023.

Had I known it was going away, I would have ordered a 2022. I loved my SuperCab Lariat. The SuperCrews are kind of silly for me - the interior space is excessive and not something I use.

Default About the same on the highway

Compared to my previous 3.5 eco-boost I find the mileage is very similar. I’m sure it’s better in the city but I do mostly highway and on the whole it adds up to maybe 5% better mileage. I just drive it normally like a truck I don’t worship at the altar of fuel mileage.

I imagine there’s a bigger difference for people who don’t drive along at 75 miles an hour all the time or have the time in their day to drive gingerly

is 5% worth the weight the cost on the complexity? If you get it for free, maybe. Otherwise, I have a power boost because I have a platinum plus and there are no engine options (on 703A)
