I wouldn't touch a used Powerboost. No way to know for sure if it was traded in because its problematic. And no, Carfax isn't a 100% guarantee.
If you do decide you want a Powerboost, best bet is a new one cause it seems the quality has gone up since 2021.

I’ve had 2 2.7 trucks. I think the 2.7 is the best engine Ford makes. During the summer I got about 22 MPG with plenty of power to pull a 5000 pound camper.
I now have an Powerboost KR. It’s smoother than the 2.7 because of the changes made to the 2024 hybrid package. I like the 3.5 Powerboost but will it ever get 22 MPH? I love the power. It WILL pull your camper better than the 2.7 no question. I would advise drive both don’t take anyone’s advice. See which one you like like but don’t forget the added complexity of the Powerboost.
What changes were made to the 2024 Powerboost Hybrid package? I was told by two different dealerships that the platform is the same as it was last year. (2023)

However one of the local dealerships over here has Powerboost in the roughly same price point as the ecoboost.

My driving will be mostly city with very occasional towing my very light fifh wheel trailer (5000 lbs).

I live in Vancouver, BC so would like to know how is the efficiency is for the mostly cold months.

We only have like 3-4months of summer. And then it gets cold enough for snow

Thank you. I am really excited to get my first f150 But obviously want to make the correct decision.

Few things to look out for with either option.

2.7EB does not come with a 6.5 bed truck which is the preferred bed length to pull a 5th wheel camper. 2nd the 2.7EB in stock Lariat form has the 6600#GVWR which is also the lightest frame in the F150 line up. 2.7EB with any other gearing than 3.73 is not going to be a good performer pulling a 5th wheel there are better options. Made this mistake in 16, with 16 501a Screw Lariat 2.7EB 3.55 gearing, towing 5.5' bed yes it towed BUT was a monster to handle in winds and when in heavy semi traffic when towing a mid sized trailer.

Power boost can be a good option to a nightmare but a 6.5' bed is still the preferred option to pull a 5th wheel. Power boost in any form will pull the 5th wheel but will the power boost have the payload to do it correctly??? Power boost has some of the lowest payloads throughout the F150 line up. Power boost with towing, (NOT MAX TOW) 6.5' bed, 7.2kw pro power option is the recommended starting minimum when looking for a camper pulling power boost. Eliminate the moon roof, bed utility package and power steps to maximize payload. Note the Power Boost needs to have a warm and fuzzy feeling to operate, hates extended cold temps under 0C and basically turns into a 3.5 EB that occasionally will be a Power boost when warmed up enough. In cold you most likely will get the same fuel return as a normal 3.5 EB.

Been der had a Power Boost and another question to ask for is service records. In today's world one must get the complete service history and if you cannot get the service history one must walk away of any used vehicle purchase. Flood cars, buy backs, sold on frustration over not being fixed right, the list goes on and on.

If you decide look for a FORD ESP (extended service protection) plan out to 10 years and mileage which fits your style. If you cannot afford the ESP NOW you surely won't be happy about the cost to repair your vehicle after the factory warranty runs out. Can you area FORD dealers fix the Power Boost in a timely manner.

Dealer new stock in this area consists of 2.7EB, 3.5EB, 5.0 F150's one is hard pressed to find a DEALER ordered Power Boost on their lots but will order one if you MUST have one.

Had a 18 and 19 max tow 3.5EB and was not in anyway unhappy with the vehicles performance while towing or normal driving. BUT early 21-23 gen 14 Max Tows have a known axle bolt issue that needs to be addressed.

Hope this helps more than adds more confusion.

I just sold a 2018 Lariat 2.7 with a 6.5 foot bed. Before that I had a 2015 XLT 2.7 with a 6.5 foot bed.

It had better be able to drive over 22 MPH.

I find my PowerBoost does the best on slower 50-55 MPH highway-type driving without stops. We don't really have anything resembling city driving around here, so I'm not sure how it would do there.

I just got 27.6 MPG (hand calculated) on a 6 hour/330 mile round trip drive that was mostly slower highway.

I think it does so well in those situations because at ~50 MPH it can still use electric only mode a decent amount. Get it on the interstate at 65+ and it's not going to be able to do that.
