Is your whole commute 8.7 miles? Even if you were driving a regular 3.5 and were getting 16 MPG in bumper to bumper traffic over this 8.7 miles you would have burned $1.75 in fuel. I’m not sure spending $60-$70k on a truck to worry about saving $8.75 a week in fuel is the getting the right tool for the job. It seems to me the right tool for the job for you would have been a Prius. Fuel savings with a PB are just not significant. The generator function or the additional performance is more why someone should consider buying one. The highway mileage is the same if it were better the EPA ratings would indicate that.

Most of the "issues" from consumer reports are all software related. Based on attached I've seen that did a little analysis of the data, it makes zero sense. Infotainment was listed as poor on the Powerboost but ok on other models, and it's exactly the same system on ever truck assuming it's the same trim/options.

There are very few hybrid specific items that actually are prone to failure based on everything I've seen thus far. Minus software issues and isolated issues which can happen to any vehicle, regardless of trim/brand/options, the exhaust heat exchanger is the only problematic part on the hybrids, and it's been months since I've seen anyone complain about it leaking. Most posts referencing an issue on a hybrid truck have nothing to do with the hybrid system.

I Have seen as many posts of people getting all new engines in their 5.0 trucks as there have been hybrid battery failures requiring replacement.

I don’t think I’ve seen anything about anyone getting a battery replacement but o have seen quite a few getting their 5.0 replaced due to oil consumption. Waiting to see how the cylinder deactivation hit them over the years.

That's my work commute but overall a week I get in 200ish miles of city driving. You keep calling it not significant but any cost of operation deduction is worth it.

I'm not sure spending 60 to 70k on a truck and not getting the most power, highest MPG and the generator for free (at least on most 24 trim levels) is smart.

I've never seen the MPG's some of you are seeing with your Powerboosts. My to work commute is 11 miles and with 4.6 miles of electric driving I would see between 23.2 and 25.8 mpg. Hand calculated my MPG in shoulder seasons without AC or heat I could average 22.8 mpg. During summer with heavy AC use 21.8 and in winter just under 20 mpg.

at 65 miles per hour I get close to 23 mpg. At 80 miles per hours low 19's. I'd like to see the overall MPG's for the lifetime of the vehicle posted. My overall MPG's was 20.9 before it was repurchased by Ford this spring. My problem was keeping the battery charged trying to get the best fuel mileage possible.
Would I buy another? Yup. I have one on order.

Is a PB worth it?
A disclaimer first. I live at 1400 feet elevation to town is 1100 feet. I drive very easy the speed limit is a max of 45.
I’ve drove my KR 1845 miles with 729 electric miles that’s 39%. The mileage is 21.2 and going up. I’ve seen as high as 30 mph. As you can see it’s down hill to town which helps but up hill coming back but even then I’ll see 23 mph or more.
Is it worth it? To me yes. 430 HP and the AC works when the engine isn’t running.

Worth it? Who knows!
But I’d bet money you will really like driving and owning it.
