Default Missing Auto-Start-Stop Button

Minor but weird problem... there's no Auto-Start-Stop button. 2023 F-150 King Ranch, bought Sept 2023.

I've been reading the manual (I bought an actual printed Owner's Manual thanks to info from this thread), and it refers to the A-S-S button (sorry about using that abbr.) on the dash. It shows it above the center display, on the leftmost side of the buttons. Just left of the Camera Button.

Not only does it not have the button, I don't think this truck even has A-S-S, as I'm familiar with it from other vehicles, and it doesn't seem to turn off at stops. But I thought it was federally mandated, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't. I've done a VIN lookup, but there was nothing listed related to A-S-S. I did not get the MSRP/manuf sticker when I picked up the vehicle, so I can't reference it.

Not a big deal, but my curiosity is piqued. I did a thread search, but everything I could find relates to defeating the function.

Thanks!

Ford built trucks without auto stop/start during the chip shortage. There should be a $50 credit for that on your factory window sticker.

I looked at your profile and didn’t see truck configuration info… Is your truck a powerboost? If so, that’s the whole point if a hybrid and therefore no reason to include such a button.

For about 2 1/2 years I never even knew my truck had this option, until I saw someone in here say you can enable through the settings screen! No button either for me on my 2021 XLT.

Sorry about that... I had put the truck in my profile, but not the specifics: It's a 3.5L V6 Ecoboost, 4WD. Not a hybrid.

I'll update my profile.

I'll look thru the settings screen, but from what I'm reading, if you don't have the physical button, you don't have it.

I didn't realize the chip shortage kept it off some vehicles. Especially in 2023.

Ming is a 2022 from what I heard all 2022s have this features deleted. As other have said consider this a blessing lol
many articles talking about how this feature kills your engine/starter etc.

That may be the answer. I never rec'd the Build Sheet, so I can't confirm, but makes sense. Maybe due to chip shortage, as mentioned above.

My 2022 has it. It was a choice to not get it. I suppose I should have. It doesn't work most of the time because the truck is rarely happy with the battery state of charge unless I'm on a trip. When I'm on a trip I'm usually pulling a trailer, and it doesn't work when towing.
