Not a lot of people go with the option that is the slowest full size truck and slower than any modern family sedan or mini-van. Will be interesting to see what you think.

Maybe you don't care at all about speed or power and will be happy.

I too am surprised that you chose that option, given all the info posted here, it seemed like the lesser of the two choices overall. Also curious how it goes.

Unless the dealer is your father I’m not buying that you got it for $7000.00 under sticker.

Maybe if it's an XLT with Sport or Chrome package. Those have crazy incentives and rebates built into the sticker so that the dealer can negotiate and back them back out.

Such a Richard.

Nice choice. Very much looking forward to how the 3.0 diesel treats you. There is a lot of diesel hate out there nowadays.

Why do people buy trucks? It’s not to be fast. Shows that some don’t use your truck as a truck. They want a fast grocery getter that can power their house.

I think everyone needs a diesel. Once. To get it out of their system. But then again some love them. I am one who when shopping for a vehicle specifically search for something different than what I have owned previously. This is how an F-150 sits next to a Tesla in my driveway.

Speed/acceleration is relative. 0-60 in 5 seconds has little to contribute to useful transportation. Traffic usually takes 20-30 seconds to reach 60. If one is buying a truck to do things other than impress little boys at how long of a rubber stripe it can lay, then the Powerstroke is a worthy contender. I am extremely pleased with my 2.7EB.

If I were going to pick an F150 to mostly just roll up and down the interstate, I'd probably go with the 5.0. It will likely get better fuel mileage than the EB at constant highway speeds and still have power when you want it. The diesel would be my last choice just for performance reasons.
I'd bet on the the 3.5 Eco with battery+electric motor before the new cylinder deactivation 5.0

Batteries and electric motors are quite simple and reliable compared to a modern ICE

Maybe 2 or 3 years down the road if they still offer it, but even then, only if I need my truck to be a portable generator.
Hybrid tech isn't really new, not overall, and not to Ford.

Don't forget lower payload than a minivan to go along with being slower

There's a reason (well, reasons) Ford is not going to offer the 3.0 any more

If you buy a different engine you can get more torque + more towing + more payload and be fast all at once.

You can literally use your truck more as a truck and be faster and more fun to drive and cost less to buy and maintain and operate.

But, that's probably the basic 3.5 and maybe the 5.0 or the 2.7, the powerboost is really low on payload too, like the diesel...neither is particularly good a "manly manly truck stuff *grunts*" due to payload limitations
