Which Engine?
My salesman buddy is trying to talk me into a 2021. The used manager is offering me 4k more than paid for my truck sight unseen.
That said I am debating between the 3.0 Powerstroke and the Powerboost. My daily commute is about 80miles round trip almost all highway (I hit 3 redlights in 80miles.). I will use it for general truck things and occasional towing of upto 8k. Which would you go with?

As for the engine, i'm not keen on diesels in particular, but i think the two posts above that i liked are very good points, and would appear to point to the Ecoboost instead of the diesel based on the OP's stated use.
Yup I bought it a few years ago after my 14 had an unfortunate accident (you would be amazed what a runaway airplane tug will do lucky for that dude it hit my truck not an aircraft). It was a quick buy need so I couldn't really wait so I picked this one up. Got it for 26k they are offering me 30500 right now.
Honestly there isn’t an engine that Ford puts in the F150 currently that I wouldn’t own. And thats saying a lot because I’ve owned 5 GM’s and only 2 Fords. GM doesn’t have a single engine in their halftons that I want currently. Even the 6.2 with its bent pushrods and all its problems, no thanks.

I guess I'd go with the Powerboost to try out new tech between the two options. However, they are really the last two of all the options that I would pick. The Powerboost is high tech and could be costly to repair and the diesel is slow, has a lower tow rating and higher maintenance requirements.
If I were going to pick an F150 to mostly just roll up and down the interstate, I'd probably go with the 5.0. It will likely get better fuel mileage than the EB at constant highway speeds and still have power when you want it. The diesel would be my last choice just for performance reasons.

I for one am not ready to take the powerboost "dive" yet. Call me paranoid or cautious but this is still very new technology and I don't want to be the guinea pig to iron out all the issues that are sure to come IMO. Maybe 2 or 3 years down the road if they still offer it, but even then, only if I need my truck to be a portable generator.
$1,000 buys a great portable inverter generator, so that's just not important in my mind. I certainly don't want to have to leave my truck sitting idling to power my house or anything silly like that. Not a good use of fuel or wear on the truck.
