You’re right but I just wasn’t sure if he was mistaking those wheels for Tremor wheels. My first thought seeing the new trucks with FX4 and those wheels was they were kind of poor man’s tremor 😂 But after seeing the prices I would revise that and just say less expensive off road option

You are correct, I thought the subject was on the STX models

Default Turbos

If you live somewhere where your truck is subject to road salt, the turbos are subject to rusting, and they also ingest the salt spray and dust thru the air intake. The first thing I did to mine was add the K&N intake System.

Last I looked the regular can short bed only came 5.0. Has that changed or is the dealer trying to up sell you to something in stock. My 2.7 was real good but new engines are quite different so ymmv

Most trucks on the lot have the 2.7 ecoboost engine but there is at least one that has the 5.0l engine, might be 4 x 4 but that one might be too tall to fit my garage. I don't tow so I don't need a high tow rating. I'd be happy with a short bed single cab.

Which engine would be best for the long term, 2.7 or 5.0? I kept my last truck for 24 years. The dealer even told me how much I spent in maintenance and repairs ($16,000) plus 3 sets of tires I didn't buy from Ford. I understand there are issues with all engines from coolant leaks into the cylinders to cam phasers and transmission problems. I'm hoping I don't get those problems down the road. I also read somewhere to put premium fuel in them.

I think you are correct. The dealer looked up all available short bed trucks. All of them had the 5.0. It seems these are configured for the hot rod street guys. A lot of dealers put factory superchargers on them, lower them and add a lot of other things to turn them into $75K + trucks. I was interested in a short bed for easier parking. Thanks

Any engine that has a turbo needs special treatment. Synthetic oil always. It needs to be cooled down after every run. Never use the start stop feature with a turbo. Turbos are expensive to replace. The majority of Ford Techs choose the V8.

Yep, Looks like it. That appears to be what my 2024 F150 STX 201A FX4 truck had. I took this shot off the Tremor I bought Friday night. When I had the two trucks side by side, I couldn't really see how different they were in the dark. The next day I went up there to get something I'd left in the truck and had them side by side again and it was more obvious. Of course, they are a similar design, but not quite the same.

The whole truck because why not?

My 2023 XLT Sport 5.0 4x2, with 4 doors and short bed averaged 25.5 mpg during a 1600 mile RT from FL to the Blue Ridge mountains last week, sometimes reaching 27.6 mpg in the flats.

I do run non-ethanol fuel, exclusively, especially 93 when available.

Lovin' the Coyote 302..
