For those who hate the slight turbo lag, drive it in sport mode every day. No noticeable lag then!

No but I’m really glad you guys love your ECOBOOSTs so much and buy them so Ford can hit their NOX emissions reduction targets and keep selling 5.0’s 👏

And they would lose every time to the 3.5.

I still don't understand why any truck buyer would willingly give up low rpm torque. And it is a substantial amount.

Its pretty amazing how some of the “it’s not a truck without a V8” guys just really don’t have a clue when it comes to the EcoBoost in any sense, have never driven them, are retired mechanics with 1980s mentality and needlessly spread outdated misinformation.

Id have no issue having a V8, but I’d only have one if I cared about the exhaust tone, which I don’t, I prefer as quiet as possible.

After being used to the instant torque of the EB, I really prefer that feel, especially when towing.

I have no doubt my 2.7 with the 3.73s is faster from a stop and pulls better towing than a 5.0 with the normal 3.31s they come with.

I don’t keep my trucks long enough mileage wise to have much to worry about. My 2017 had 78k when I sold it and my 2025 will probably have under 35,000 miles on it when I’m ready for a new one in about 8 years.

I never said it’s not a truck without a V8 I said it’s a better truck with one 😂 As far as the gearing with the 10 speed the gearing is not as big of an issue as it once was. A 10 speed with 3.31 equals a 6 speed with 3.73 gears. In fact if you plan on running stock wheels and tires and do a lot of highway travel you will benefit from the 3.31’s in fuel mileage. If you plan on going with big wheels and tires then yes 3:73 is what you want. If you plan on drag racing 3.73 is what you want. The average guy who wants a V8 truck and plans on running stock wheels and tires the 3.31 will be fine. The difference between 3.31 and 3.55 is not going to be noticeable at all with the 10 speed. With a 5.0 4x4 SCREW 10 speed with 3.31’s the towing capacity is still going to be over 9000 pounds. I’m sure your 2.7 will do fine for you keep up with maintenance and change the oil every 5k miles or less and you’ll be good. In fact Ford dealers around me are offering really good deals on STX’s with 2.7’s around me and they come with ALOT of nice features standard I wouldn’t fault no one from jumping on that

Hope so, then you can get 5.0's in the luxury trucks again like my 23 Platinum 5.0 w/3.73....... Really hoping it happens as if something happens to my 23 I'll move on to another brand that still makes loaded trucks with V-8s, like the Hemi's. When I ordered my truck I asked the dealer (who's a good friend that races NHRA with me.) to not put me in something that has the pulsating low RPM turbo lag that my wife's EcoBoost does. (She can't feel it but it drives me nuts) He instantly told me if that's the case, you want the 5.0.

It all boils down to personal preference of the end user, I believe 5.0 owners are changing oil at the 5k mile interval as well if they can
make it that far without having to add oil

This 5.0 3.73 has never used a drop. Dealer changed till 36000 then Amsoil Signature Series 5-30. Yes, changes at 5000
