I have a crew cab xlt and it has the auto 4x4. It has the shift on the fly **** anyways. Or are you saying that when the rear tires slip the front automatically engage? What I hate is that my truck has the super duty mirrors on it but they are not the power fold. Apparently that is not an option on xlt f150 but is on super duty trucks.

Sort of going off topic here, I'll give you the quick answer. Lariats and higher trim levels have a mode called 4A It used clutches to engage 4wd when it senses slippage, so you don't keep need to keep switching in and out of 4X4 mode on dry pavement, It's more like AWD, I'm NOT converting if for performance reasons, I find switching in and out is really annoying and often times forget to switch it.

To add a twist to my conversion I'm using a Raptor/2019 Limited transfer case in hopes it might be able to handle a little more torque, it was only about $100 more than the Lariat case for a 5.0.

There's a thread on the topic linked below if you want to ask any questions.
