Default Anyone thought of adding 4A to XLT?

I'm sure it's more involved than it might be worth, but i'm really kinda missing having the 4A right now. Going from snow roads to dry pavement back and fourth all the time really makes me wish i had it. Has anyone looked into what it would take to add it? Is it as simple as a transfer case and switch i wonder?

4a? Who remembers having to get out of the truck and lock the hubs in manually?

Would love to hear someone doing this. I have a feeling it's a lot more involved with electronics.

Might be simple, but might not. The transfer case, control module, and switch are different at very minimum. If the wiring harnesses are all compatible it may be as simple as plug, program, and play.

At Autonation Ford the T-case is $930, control module around $50, and the switch around $25. Throw in a half hour's labor to program with IDS and it *might* be done for as little as $1,100. Or you could waste a lot of money to find out it's not as easy as that.

It would sure be interesting to know. I'd probably pass this winter, but if it was as simple as we hoped, i bet next year you could fine a used transfer case to pull from somewhere and get it done for $750. I know myself would jump at the chance for it at that price point!

I would jump all over the 4A for $1100! If this setup ever gains Traction I will be all over it.

I bought my 2015 2.7L Lariat mainly because I fell in love with the interior and digital instrument cluster and really didn't give much thought about the 4A option. Now that this is my second winter with this truck, I'm very thankful I have it. If there is even a hit of bad weather (even heavy rain) I put it in 4A and forget about it. When it's poring down rain and I stomp on the gas I don't even spin the tires...it just launches.

I would wait a year and see if you can swap in the 4A from a 2017. It should be a far better setup than the one we currently have.

I came from GM trucks. Kinda disappointed Ford only offers 4A on higher end models. All the Chevys I've owned all had 4A and those were mid range equipped trucks at best.
