X plan
Newbie question, If you have an xplan have u encountered dealers saying their dealer pricing is better than xplan? how is this true? doesnt xplan get all discounts plus $100 doc fee instead of $700 or whatever they charge normally??
X-plan is something like 1% over "dealer invoice" which includes their holdbacks, plus the limited doc fee ($75 IIRC). If the dealer is very motivated to make sales, they may be willing to sell into their holdback.
Typically, you'll find them willing to do this on units on the lot that have been sitting around, or if they're trying to make some sales target for the month/quarter/etc.

The two closest Ford dealers to me, seventeen and twenty miles away, usually have between nine and twelve f-150's on the lot at one time. They are not too keen on selling under invoice.
I was able to get X-plan, which may not be the best deal, but it does make it tough for the dealer to screw you over. If I replace this one, I have considered a visit to Varsity Ford in Ann Arbor, (250 miles from me) to see how they deal. They keep a stock of around 250 f-150's. I can imagine they might sell under invoice.
Has anyone here ever dealt with Varsity Ford?

x plan on the trucks leaves a lot of money on the table, but for some other vehicles it's a good deal. A plan is about what you can get with good haggling at most dealers. Best thing is it saves a ton of time and headaches. Some can do better at some dealers, but a plan is still pretty good.
Yes, I've bought three F150s and a Fusion from Varsity Ford and leased 7 or 8 vehicles from Varsity Lincoln as well. I'm A-plan so I my experience is a little different but both dealerships have been great to deal with before, during, and after the sale.

X-Plan has a $100 paperwork fee. A-Plan is $75. Yes, some dealers try to sell w/o X-Plan to jack fee. Since you can see X-Plan price online and on invoice, you can easily compare to what they offer.
Are you a Ford employee? That's what the A plan is for (Z plan for retirees).
D plan is for Dealers.
X Plan is for corporate partners. Many ways to get into it, but I don't think it's worth it if you do your homework. It's basically a "no haggle" price, but not the best price you can get.
Use google, or the forum search, for plenty of info on how to get into the X-plan or how to beat it.
Can you meet or beat the same prices? Maybe. Depends on how much you read the threads on here about paying invoice or less, and how much effort you put into knowing the system. There are no cheat sheets or cliff notes.
For me, I went to my local dealership. Same salesperson who has been there 25+ years and bought my last 3 vehicles from. Pay less than invoice, and we discuss % of holdback to split. This is before all rebates, PCO, and other such discounts. X plan would be higher than that.

A good negotiator can usually beat X-plan, but not on every vehicle and X-plan is free from headaches.
A-plan is tough to beat on any current model. Can it be done? Yes, but I'd take walking into a dealer with an A-plan over haggling any day of the week. If you beat an A-plan it would be on a vehicle the dealer is desperate to get rid of.
