What a drag....
Before purchasing my new truck I considered buying used. I looked at several F150's of various years and found many to suffer from torn/worn seats especially on the driver's seat. After owning mine for a few weeks I understand how this wear and tear is happening.
When getting out of these tallish trucks it's hard not to drag your rear across the outer seat cushion. I notice it when I get out and when my passengers get out. It's more of a hopping motion to get in and a sliding motion to get out.
Obviously a seat cover might help the fabric but what about the cushion itself? Are there measures that folks are taking to prevent or slow seat wear? Do I even need to worry about it?

I'm sure down the road it'll tear. It's not bulletproof and it makes me cringe when I hear the seat making that dragging noise when my wife gets out(she does exactly what you described). If it happens early well then...guess I'm upgrading to leather Katskinz!
im tall so don't usually have an issue, but if you swing your legs out first and then step on running board you should be able to get out without sliding off the seat.

I have noticed this also, and I curse myself every time I do it. Usually, I try to step on the side step and use that to lift my butt off the seat before I slide out.

My roommate slides out, the noise it makes on the seat never sounds good. Him and I also wear pocket knives in our rear pockets, it's only a matter of time until it snags my seats and tears a hole. Then I'll "have" to upgrade to Katzkin leather haha.

I think it'd be a courtesy to remove any dangerous article from your pocket before entering a friend's vehicle, given its obvious threat to the vehicle... that's a pretty basic thing

Yeah I might say something to him next him he slides out of my seat with his pocket knife in his pocket. When he had his 2016 GT premium, I always took my pocket knife out before I got in so I wouldn't damage his leather.
