I've got step rails and never slide out of my truck. The last truck was very worn on the side of the seat because the previous owner didn't have step rails on. It's generally just me in my truck, and if I have anyone else in there they generally use the steps.

You are right sir. Power steps are the right height so you actually use them. They do help save the seat.
