Unable to update Sync
Did the upgrade fine on my Mac several days ago. If you use Safari, make sure you turn off the "Auto Safe Files After Downloading" option in preferences.. I noticed when it decompresses the file, instead of creating the SyncMyRide directory, it prefixes SyncMyRide\ in front of all the file names which doesn't work.. Also, on some USB sticks, there is a partition placed on the stick by the manufacturer for auto installation of companion apps on your computer.. I've had Sync look only on those partitions. The simplest way I've found to make sure a USB stick works, is to throw a couple songs on the stick, and make sure Sync will play the songs.. if it plays the songs, likely it will upgrade from the USB stick too.

Im also having issues even after trying ford chat, and the response was to go to the dealer. My local dealer service SUCKS so i don't plan on doing that. I'm using a Mac, formatted the flash drive to MS-DOS (FAT32), and when my file is done downloading and I click on the folder, there are 21 additional files within. 6 are .zip files, only one is the end of the recommended file for me, and when I double-click on it (unzip it), there is only one additional file, and it is the same name as the original but in .sec format Can anyone please help a brother out. When I did what Ford chat advised, which was rename that .sec file to SyncMyRide, and move it along with the DONTINDX.mxa and autoinstall.lsa files to my flash drive, then plug in to sync. I already tried the master reset before plugging it in, and the best I can get on my SYNC MFT is for a status bar to come up, but it never moves. It never has any words appear or any sign it actually progressing in the update/install.
So I tried 3 times to update Sync downloading the files from my Mac. Kept getting an error saying sync could not find the files on the USB.Confirmed FAT32 formatting, etc. I saw the unzipped file structure did not match the ford website example.
Fired up my VM and Windows, downloaded the file again, unzipped and boom. File structure matches. I'm not going to update right now as I don't want to sit outside at 10pm. So far it looks like what @jimja said, use a PC. I will update tomorrow if it worked on my F150 but file structure matching gives me confidence.
