Default Transporting beer

Heading to our place in the UP of Michigan after Christmas and it is going to be cold, very cold. I always bring my drinks up because I hate the bottle deposit. I will have a 6 hour drive in single digit temps. The bed will be full of gear and is covered with a MX4, the truck and beer will be about 55 when we leave. Do I have to worry about the beer freezing on the drive up? I would rather not have to take up more space putting the beer in a cooler.

I can't answer your question. But, maybe you can put your liquids inside the truck with you and whatever was going to be in the cab, transfer to the bed?

I thought of that but I don't think the wife and or kids would be too keen on riding in the bed...

Wrap up the beer in a sleeping bag and it should be good in the back. Worth a try !

I suspect being insulated with all that other stuff, or in a cooler, it'll be fine.

Check the temps - beer doesn't freeze at 32 due to the alcohol content. And it won't freeze in 6 hours. You'll be fine.

I was wondering if that may be the situation. Perhaps you can put the beer in some of your gear that would provide insulation, blankets, tent, or such? We've put bottled liquids in our suitcases before, so it was kept from freezing by the clothes around it. Put 6 beers in each suitcase. That way you don't lose much space per suitcase and they will be protected.

It's 6 hours... Beer is 55 at the start. It won't freeze.
