Parts replacement monkeys don't "fix" anything. Like their name implies, they replace parts. If your repair job entails "fixing" anything one would need to go to an non-dealer shop.

Maybe the OP has not desire for a lifted truck. I also get that it has been stated several times that a lift kit doesn't fix the issue because it still mounts to the LCA mount that is torn. But could the lift kit be used along with welding to beef up and reinforce the broken area then relocate the control arms and solve the issue. Of course if there is no desire for a lifted truck, I wouldn't want one personally, the leveling kit is all the higher I want to go. Just trying to work through some options.

No need to cross brace from the other side unless the OP intends to abuse his truck.

Patiently waiting for the OP, who hasn't posted in this thread since the 12th, to come back with more info regarding his investigation into this crack.

Sure I get that there wouldn't be a need but just wondering if it might be an option. If not for the OP maybe for someone else that might run into this. Lots of debate on if welding is OK or not and many seem to think so but while you could weld the hole up and brace it but I was just thinking this might be another option. Of course you would have to want a lift and all.

I agree 14 grand is just crazy for that repair, the dealer must not understand what is damaged there. I see on the Tascaparts site there are weldments offered to replace the LCA mounts. Though they seem awfully expensive and I might be tempted to have the existing part on the truck repaired. Still I think there is a root cause here (the suspension repeatedly bottoming out) and other parts are likely damaged.

They offer the front mounts only. The rear mounts do not have a lip, so all you need is flat plate.

$48 is an ok price as far as I'm concerned. Might only be $2 worth of steel, but I don't have a 10 ton press to stamp my own fittings.

The debate is over, it's not made of a steel that requires special welding and heat treating or they wouldn't sell stubs for welding in.

If you don't want the lift, there is zero need to use lift kit parts. You cut out the bad piece, weld in a replacement, and weld a second plate flat against it, it will be stronger than before. If you use a lift kit, you will have to do the same repair unless you are willing to weld the lift brace to the frame. not knowing the steel used in the kit, I'd opt to repair the frame and install the kit normally.
