what's going on with the frame? It looks rusted and peeling? Can you get a picture of that?

Almost looks like the LCA made contact with the frame. Geez, glad this didn't happen at speed.

If this was sold as "Ford Certified", then if I were you, I'd make Ford stand behind that certification. This is bizarre. There is no reason you should have to pay anything out of pocket.

May be just the lighting but it almost looks like paint where the crack it? as in, it had been painted after the original crack? Can you verify?

High strength steel.....no you cant weld on it! Its thinner material to begin with since its high strength steel.

No sensible professional would do what you describe in today's legal climate.

It might work though, but the welded portion would be seriously strength compromised. Then use it as a farm truck.

Maybe yer just being sarcastic.

Looks to me from the rusted areas compared to the clean areas that this was partially torn or damaged for a while. Also, I don't see how only one side could tear with a tight bolt. Looks like the bolt head is still attached on the one side which to me says that the bolt breaking caused the stress on the back tab. Was there any noise in the front end prior to the discovery of the damage?

High strength steel like used in these frames can very easily be welded and if done properly can be just as strong. The frame is welded at several joints as it is, it’s certainly doable.
