This happened to me a week ago Friday. Backing into a parking lot. 2017 Ford F150 Crew Cab
Very interested in what was done with your repair?
Did Ford stand behind any of this ?

Is the head of the bolt missing on yours also? Keep your receipts and report it to NTHSA.GOV. If there's a recall you'll get reimbursed.

I would be inclined to compare that part to other trucks and see if there is not supposed to be either a radius or a rolled edge there because the way that piece is built it isn't a surprise at all to me that it is cracked the way it is. May also want to see if all of the proper hardware is in place on that joint, and be sure the bump stop is in place and in good order.

It looks like your bolt head is broken too. Can you confirm this?

Does anyone following this thread think it's "telling" that there has never been a post from the official Ford bot that occasionally responds with the "Send me your VIN and I'll look into it" reply?

Brings to mind the old saying "Never a ask a question that you don't want to hear the answer to."

had it towed on a flat bed to the dealership. Will see how they respond tomorrow. Hopefully they show concern and not shrug because it’s 8 years old. Will be tough for me to not get a little heated.

Default Bolt head

Bolt head came off and allowed bolt to pull through the hole. Bad bolt I’d say. Just enough play introduced and over time tore the poorly designed frame. Dealer and Ford wouldn’t lift a finger. Ordered new camber bolts which were ridiculously expensive. Getting a welding shop to repair and plate.

the replacement bolt has a different design. It’s almost like Ford knows there’s an issue with the factory bolt. This bolt is ford OEM.

I'd suggest to everyone who has had this happen to file a complaint with NHTSA. It would not surprise me if this became a recall at some point. Seems like all of the trucks involved had a light amount of rust on the affected area, which tells me it doesn't take much rust for the area to become structurally compromised. As thin as the steel is on these frames, I suspect they don't need much metal loss for the metal to be thin enough to be susceptible to fatigue, causing these cracks. Fix would probably involve the dealer installing a reinforcement bracket around the area.

Just my 2 cents.
