Default Tire quandry....

Well, it's about time to replace the stock Hankook's on my '16 Screw XLT. I've got the 20" PVD chrome wheels and about 43,000 miles on the odometer.
I have to say, these tires have been absolutely great. I've been very disciplined with doing rotations every oil change and kept them properly inflated. Also had an alignment done somewhere in the 30k's.

Now for my nitpicky requirements. I was a little concerned when I got the truck with the Hankooks because I'd had some on a previous truck and they rode like $h1t. In hindsight I think it was because they were E rated tires, I think 285's.
So, for me, E or F rated tires are out of the question. My observation is that they ride like a Flintstones granite wheel.

I think I'm pretty much down to either replacing with stock size or going with the 305/50 20 upgrades in either the Nitto TerraGrappler G2 or the Toyo Open Country A/T II.

So help me decide. Do you prefer the Nitto or the Toyo? Do you have another upgraded size in mind? The caveat being that I don't really want to ruin my gas mileage. ( Though I do realize that the 305's will probably have a slight negative effect on that )

What say you?

A pic, because pics are good right!

Had the G2's on mt 2015. They looked good, good on beach, but were oddly poor in the rain. Friend with Sierra had same issue with G2's in a different size.
My experience.
Good luck

I have Terra Grappler G2s on my truck. I've had them for about 6k miles. Love them. Nice and quiet and good traction. Not much experience with them in the rain, we don't get much in Phoenix.

How different are the Toyo and Nitto's being they are produced by the same company? I had stopped in the local 4 Wheel Parts store and he recommended either. I'm trying to do my research ahead of needing new shoes before next winter.

Glad I'm not alone. I didn't know they were the same company.
Thankfully it's not urgent for me. I've still got a good 5k left on these tires probably, but because I'm super analytic, I start my search early.

I'm leaning heavily towards the Nitto ridge grapplers. By buddy has the trail grapplers and loves them.

Where was your pic taken? Looks like Outer Banks NC. Or somewhere in Florida.

Those tread patters are to aggressive for what I want. Looking for as little road noise as possible.

St. Augustine Beach FL. The Outer Banks are beautiful as well!

Lol I edited when you replied. Florida was my second guess.

The trail grapplers have what I consider the same amount of road noise as factory tires.

Did you consider 275/60r20 size instead?

Toyo Open Country seems like a good option. Never heard bad stuff about em
