For me though, this is the best. Effortlessly deploys and retracts. I would put this on, even if my truck came with the tailgate step. Third truck in a row with the 502a package. and no tailgate step.. that kills me.
I'm sure I'd get used to turning around to step down with a notched bumper. I think that's another win for the tailgate and the retractable bumper step.

It also blends in surprisingly well. Most people don't even see it. Even knowing it's there, I don't notice it.
That step would get ripped off my bumper in very short order at my farm.

That's why multiple choices are a good thing!

I have this same AMP Research step and love it ... extremely solid ... very happy I passed over ordering the factory in-tailgate step and went with this.

Step isn't attached to bumper.. Built into tailgate.

Fully agree on choices! Our needs are all different.
Just to clarify ...the AMP Research step attaches to the frame, not the bumper. It utilizes the same mount points as bumper. If you rip it off the bumper is coming with it

Not the one I was referencing. According to the next response after yours it attaches to the frame.

It would still get ripped off at my property. I have an access point where I slightly drag the bottom of the rear bumper going through a rocky washout. I keep it maintained the best I can but there is no way around dragging without adding larger tires, and I am not going larger than the 33s I have on it with 3.31 gears.

I definitely didn't account for dragging my bumper, so that's a good one.

It definitely wouldn't hold up being bounced off of rocky terrain, but it's more rugged than most expect. I swear people try and bend it on purpose. It continues to just laugh at them..

If you would rip off the Amp bed step, then you're ripping off the hitch and tail pipe every time. Look at the pic of the back of the truck...the step is higher than the hitch and tail pipe. They would go first! Pictures can "lie", but I have one of these steps and can assure you it is well protected.

The AMP step sure appears to nestle directly under the bottom outer corner of the rear bumper, which is exactly where I drag. Rip off the receiver hitch? I don't think so! The exhaust is close behind the rear wheel, which does not drag. Doesn't matter since I have the tailgate step and only use it when I will be getting in and out of the truck bed multiple times. If it works for you, that's great. As I said before, multiple options/choices are a good thing.

That's a RAM tailgate step, oops, my apologies--- ladder, it seams very safe, steady to use and it matches great with a RAM truck
