I would much rather have my tailgate step or nothing.

As in typical RAM fashion, the bumper step came first.

Fwiw, it is adjustable side to side...

There's no argument against bumper eating potholes tho..

On masitile's suggestion I just put on my Black Friday Trekstep. It's well made with some adjustability to how you would prefer the step. I opted for no spacers to keep it tight to the bumper but offset the step so I have more foot pad for me to climb up.

I use the tailgate step every single day, countless time at days.
Side steps don't work for me, but I can see many's use for it.
it doesn't take away the truck's elegance, so....

It is beefy, especially the top arm.

If I didn't get such a deal on the AMP, I would rather have the Bestop. I like how that one tapers at the back, more so than the amp's.
Not to mention, that I know after five years of salty Northeast winter's, the Bestop worked exactly the same on the day I traded it in as it did on the first.
And the fact that I forgot to take it off. So there's that..
