There's definitely something wrong with the truck itself, if it's not giving you the Android Auto options in the settings screen. No amount of fiddling with your phone will fix this.

I think the APIM change will help.

 

I didn't have the icons on my screen either until I had my phone right and then hooked up. Any time I unplug my phone the icon goes away

 

The AA icons only appear on my screen when plugged in to the USB port. But when I go to play Google Play Music, under "Source" in Music, I can choose my phone (**** Machine 69) using Blue Tooth.

 

Hum I thought I posted this in this thread but maybe not. Go to the phone open AA. Go to settings then connected autos, make sure the add new cars to AA when phone connected. Also do you have a friend with AA on their phone? If so see if it works when they plug into it also Car Play if they have a Apple.

 

ok I'll check. Also has anyone used a Note 9 with the system successfully? That is my preferred phone.

 

I see these screens without my phone being plugged in. I'd Try re-installing Sync 3.0 again .

 

It didn't show either on my rental Explorer with only 40 miles on it, until I hooked up the phone now it is there. I am pretty sure it will not show until a phone is setup, I bet you have Apple Car Play but you don't show a selection for it. If you hook up an Apple phone it will show up.

 

That's how it works for Apple. Not the same for Android as far as I can remember.

 

On my 2016 the enable AA switch is there without any phone connected to the truck. I think the AA icon isnt in the menu untill you enable AA.
The AA icon at the bottom of the screen does not appear until you connect an Android phone to USB port

 

I'm going to get my girlfriend to try her iPhone tomorrow to see if it will work.
