You can still listen to any source while running AA. The thing is that while in AA mode, you cannot see the "Tune" options for AM/FM/XM as you would in the Sync 3 interface, but it is pretty easy to exit AA interface (still runs maps, you can hear the turn-by-turn), tune to whatever station you want, and either return to AA or stay in Sync 3. Also, I have noticed that while listening to XM for example, I still hear alerts from Waze if I am running it on my phone. I like to listen to XM more then the streaming services, so this is pretty good feature. I can listen for cops/traffic/road closures on waze and listen to XM.

I just found this...WTF?

https://www.f150forum.com/f118/2016-...ensive-353601/

How does Ford not have a release date yet and why is it that dealers know nothing about it? If 2016 vehicles are rolling in with the update, I would think they would've been informed.

What makes you think the sales staff of dealers really know anything? If you have done your research about the truck you bought, odds are you knew more about what was available option wise than the sales staff.

As the service department at my dealer said "to be honest you (I) will probably know about the update being available before they do." They asked me to let them know when I see it's available. At least they're honest.

I assume the people at the dealership are aware of what they're selling and that the service department is aware of what they're repairing. You're right...I knew way more about this truck than anyone at the dealership when I bought it...probably even the techs that work on it. With that being said...this is basic stuff that many people are going to ask about and I don't think it's all that crazy for Ford staff to be able to answer. I'm not asking what motherboard runs Sync 3...just when will I be able to use CarPlay since the 2016 on the show floor does and mine doesn't. I think they should be able to answer that.

It's designed to hold this

Hello,

I just picked up the '16 F-150 yesterday.
I wasn't aware of Sync3 version difference till last night.
Ford Owner site indicated that I have the latest software update.
Date Confirmed: Jun 24, 2016
Version: SYNC3 v1.0
Your SYNC is up-to-date!
Now, you're running the fastest, simplest and best version of SYNC

My coworker told me there is way to download 2.0 version from Torrent.
Anybody has experience with this?
AndroidAuto had influenced my decision to pick 302A instead of 301A.
This is a big disappointment after one day of happiness.

I would highly recommend you *NOT* search for / or install any pirated software, ie, Sync version *whatever*, on your new 1 day old truck...or ever. And, if it's bit torrent, it's pirated. IMHO

Only install software for your truck directly from Ford's website, or from the dealership.

Keep tuned in to this forum for any breaking news concerning this official update from Ford. We're all waiting for it brother.

I agree that grabbing a sync update this way is bad, but your generalization is (like most of them) false. Valid software is often available via torrent.

If that was the case then why didn't you buy a `17? Or better yet test it int he parking lot before you signed the paperwork. Now you get to wait like the rest of us, welcome to the boat, it's getting crowded, and everyone is ready to feed FORD to the sharks.

They say by the end of the year....

SSM 45906 - 2016 SYNC 3 Equipped Vehicles – Apple CarPlay And Android Auto Upgrade Not Currently Available

Some owners of 2016 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may inquire about upgrading to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This upgrade is not currently available for those vehicles. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are currently available only on 2017 model year vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 v2.0 or later. This upgrade will be available later this year. Monitor OASIS for future updates.
