***Sync 3 Software 3Q2016 Changes***
If it is a USB hub, then that would be the problem. Using a hub is sharing the two ports. Carplay is going to need a dedicated port.
same here. I've noticed that the only way to get music to play consistently is to shut bt off and use usb...and even then it gets disconnected.
The fact we're even talking about this is somewhat pathetic...we paid 50k+ for these trucks for premium features and quality when hyundai elantras have had this functionality for a long time. Sad.

Went to find the post where I paired a pic of the head unit - I see it sounds like there is some "hub" and that supposedly this only plugs to one port on the head unit? Has me curious now.....

I'm also mystified by what the 'CD' slot in the dash of my 2016 Lariat is for (I assume 'CD' stands for cooling displacement and it's a vent used to keep sync 3 working at an optimized temp
).
Hopefully it's actually a DVD laser and can eventually be hacked to to play videos...
My experience from the 60+ cars I've rented in the last few years is that once you are using AA or CarPlay you can't listen to another source at the same time which can be good thing if you have an over chatty girlfriend.

I think they've probably tried to keep AA and CP mainly for streaming or things you can find on your phone. Ford probably wants it that way too...AppLink on Sync 3 was actually being designed as a competitor to both AA and CP and as such, it's integrated nicely into the Sync 3 interface (when it works). Trying to integrate radio, CD, and XM into CP or AA would be a nightmare for developers providing those interfaces as well since each has it's own proprietary software...even if it's built on QNX.
