Speaker Sizes - w/o Kicker or Sony Upgrade
I realize this topic has already been covered many times and I have read every thread I can find multiple times to make sure I didn't overlook the answer. All threads seem to discuss either the Kicker or Sony upgraded stereo. I have neither.
I have a 2015 SCrew XLT with Sync, Voice Activated Navigation and the 8" touchscreen.
Can someone please tell me if the door speakers (both front and rear ) are 6x8 or are the front speakers 6x9 and the rear speakers 6 1/2"

IIRC, the stock size is 6x8, but i think some are fitting 6x9's, which is what I'm going to do as well.
Some "upgrades" use a 5x7....

I found my answer by removing the door panels...
Even the non Sony system has 6.5" and 6x9" speakers.

Correct...
However after reading through several threads on the Sony system, std 6x9s won't mount without some modifications. Rears should mount without any issues. No one at this time makes adapter harnesses for front or rear.

Kind of hard to figure ain't it !
'15 has been out long enough for Metra & scoshe to supply these parts..
Crutchfield has no clue what will work with 2015's
Some of the guys on here are slowly figuring things out !
My Local stereo guy was also clueless; he did however listen to my system & said my weakest link was Bass.. He recomended a Sub to get me by !!

FWIW I pulled off both front and rear door panels and can confirm the non Kicker or Sony upgraded stereo uses 6x9s in the front and 6.5s in the rear. To make things worse, most off the shelf aftermarket speakers won't mount in the OEM opening without some type of a custom mount as Ford used a non conventional opening and mounting pattern to mount the stock speakers. Crutchfield, Best Buy and local stereo shops are clueless when it comes to our 2015 F150s. Best Buy's data base shows the non Kicker or Sony stereo system still using 6x8 and only the upgraded stereo using the 6x9s and 6.5s.
After doing still more research I ran across this thread:

I believe at this time with the products currently on the market, this is the best way to mount these off the shelf speakers into our non-conventional openings.
Since I have no plans of installing any additional components to my stereo I consulted several speaker manufacturers on their recommendations and have decided to replace the front & rear door and center channel speakers with Polk's DB series. These speakers are designed to be used without the use of additional amps and should work decent with the stock stereo. Specifics are as follows:
DB691 - 6x9" (front doors)
DB651S - 6.5" (rear doors)
DB351 - 3.5" (center channel)

Rear Door Speakers
Following the lead of maltpj's thread, I removed the OEM rear door speakers and salvaged the OEM speaker frame to use as a mounting adapter. This allowed me to mount off the shelf Polk DB651S 6.5" speakers in the original rear door opening without modifying the opening or OEM wiring harness

3.5" Center Channel Speaker
I then removed the 3.5" center channel speaker from the Instrument Panel. To install the Polk DB351 all I needed to do was remove the wiring harness that was attached to the OEM speaker and solder it to the connectors on the replacement speaker. This allows the vehicle harness to plug into the Polk speaker without modification of the vehicle harness. A few items worth mentioning:
- Fitment was very good although there are 2 very small alignment tabs that must be removed from the dash to allow the DB351 to sit flush in the dash mount. If you look closely you can see them sticking up behind the T20 mounting hardware
- The tweeter on the DB351 protrudes about .312". This makes clearance between the OEM grille and the tweeter minimal.
- Due to a raised flange on the dash mount, the speaker mounting tabs don't sit flush with the dash and tightening the mounting hardware would distort the speaker frame. 1 small spacer (washer) under each mounting tab resolved this issue.
