Very pleased with the results so far keeping in mind I don't have the Polk DB691 6x9s installed in the front doors yet. I think it is very important to have realistic expectations of what upgrading only the speakers will do for the overall sound package.
That being said I have no intentions of adding any other components to this stereo system. When I have finished installing the speakers "it is what it is".
I purchased all speakers through Amazon and all were eligible for Prime:
DB351 - $45.95
DB651S $64.29
DB691 - $89.04
for a total investment of $200.

To anyone wanting to do the upgrade, i will be ordering the DB351's and of course will have an extra so if anyone wants to purchase my spare it'll be for sale. Its 47 on amazon now so figure 25/30 bucks once i ship it to you.

I had adapters made for the front doors on my Plat SC. I'm running Hertz Mille 6.5 in the doors with the matching tweet in the factory location. Running Audison Voce coax in the rear doors.

I'm not really sure what your talking about, i'm referencing the center channel speaker. There is only one.

He must have posted in the wrong thread or maybe just had a Bad Case of "Brain Fade"
Nice thread on your install, make sure to keep us up , when you install 6x9's
Are you soldering new slide-on speaker connectors !!??

I soldered the speaker wire directly to the speaker terminals

I then removed the 3.5" center channel speaker from the Instrument Panel. To install the Polk DB351 all I needed to do was remove the wiring harness that was attached to the OEM speaker and solder it to the connectors on the replacement speaker. This allows the vehicle harness to plug into the Polk speaker without modification of the vehicle harness. A few items worth mentioning:
- Fitment was very good although there are 2 very small alignment tabs that must be removed from the dash to allow the DB351 to sit flush in the dash mount. If you look closely you can see them sticking up behind the T20 mounting hardware
- The tweeter on the DB351 protrudes about .312". This makes clearance between the OEM grille and the tweeter minimal.
- Due to a raised flange on the dash mount, the speaker mounting tabs don't sit flush with the dash and tightening the mounting hardware would distort the speaker frame. 1 small spacer (washer) under each mounting tab resolved this issue.

Any concern running a 4 ohm speaker in place of an 8 ohm? I know it's only one speaker and I'm not sure what is even being sent to this speaker, but isn't the current demand with a 4 ohm speaker doubled compared to 8 ohms, and if the amp isn't totally comfortable with a 4 ohm load that can result in overheating?
I called Crutchfield and ask that very question as I also had concerns. I was told that would not be an issue in that particular application.

Front Door Speakers
Very similar to rear door speaker installation. Remove, salvage original speaker mounting frame, mount 6x9 in salvaged mount, solder wiring & reinstall in door.
