Following, 2018 XLT CC, 4x4, 3.5 Eco.

Truck currently has 1,800 miles and has been "Clunking" at start up since new. Will be taking it to the dealer to have it documented. Hopefully Ford is working on a fix. One thing I didn't see, or I may have just overlooked was if all of us who have commented on this have 4WD trucks?

This doesn't appear to be tied to just the 10 speed, which is what I initially thought it could be. However, the people experiencing this issue, do you have the electronic parking brake or the manual?

I take mine in on Monday to have this looked at among other things. I expect nothing to be done but I will report back what happens.

Has anyone actually taken their truck to a transmission shop before taking it to Ford?

I took my truck in this past Monday for a few issues: warped dashboard, jerky trans shifts in 1-5 gears, and the clunk on start up. I was told nothing they could do about the dash at this time. I was told that that the jerky shifts were a "normal characteristic" of the truck. I was also told that the clunk on start up was also a "normal characteristic." They told me that if I applied the brake on start up that the clunk will go away or at least be less harsh. I was given no explanation of why that is or what the clunk is caused by. I am quite disappointed to say the least.

Took my truck in a month ago for the trans shifter linkage recall and 5.0 poor driveability. The clunking seems to have stopped but then I don't use the electronic parking brake as much now as pre recall service. The trans needs a new torque converter and valve body, neither part is available currently, according to dealer. "But its ok to drive it." Now after about 400 mi since, the trans is giving harsh shifts all of a sudden which it never really had a problem with before. And it still feels like the truck is surging.

My 2018 F-150 has just recently begun the "clunk on startup." It now happens almost 100% of the time when starting the engine with the key, but never happens when it is being started by the auto-start/stop. The truck has about 31,500 km (~19,000 mi) on it. It doesn't matter if I have my foot on the service brake or not, or if I have the parking brake set or not. It sounds that it comes from the transmission, but I could not be certain. I have started it with everything else off (a/c, fan, radio, etc.) to try to rule out other sounds, and the "clunk" happens consistently.
It did NOT do this until recently. The fact that this started at around 30,000 km leaves me believing this should not be considered to within the normal working parameters.
I need to take it in for the linkage recall soon, so will ask about it then.

I'm waiting on a call from the regional manager after my truck was in for the 3rd time for this clunk and the whistle noise. According to this person, Ford is well aware of these issues but maybe not enough to yet address and come up with possible solutions. Therefore, I encourage anyone that has these issues to take their truck to the dealer, complain about it and create paper trails.

Took mine in on Monday and got it back the day before yesterday. My service adviser did as expected; told me it was a characteristic of the 10-speed per Ford. He at least agreed it should definitely not be doing it, though. He thinks it is software related rather than mechanical. Currently there is no action from Ford that he is aware of. I guess I'll just have to live with it until enough people complain and Ford does something about it.

On the other hand, they said Ford has a fix in development for the dash warp I complained about. They were told not to fix it. Ford is working on something...

Hope this **** gets taken care of before too long...

Got my first clunk today with 600 miles on the truck, so guess I'm in the club now...

Has not done it for the last 3 starts though. Guess we'll see. I'll be subscribing to this thread in hopes of a resolution.
