Like others have said, everything is fine. However, the question is in my mind of how did you go a full city block at 5,000RPMs and not notice they were up there? There should've been several shifts between there...

Maybe he had the fake EB engine noise through the speakers turned off?

Thanks for the replies. Song I like was playing and general head up butt moment. I've never used the manual shift feature before. It's really easy to go right past D and stop on M! For a few seconds I wasn't comprehending why my truck wasn't shifting. Ugh!

Your truck will be fine! That has happened to me several times in last 2 trucks usually I catch right away and throw in D!

I am sure it has happened to a lot of others as well!

Not sure why you think adding that last part lets you off the hook for being a jackass, it doesn't. You are a big part of the problem around here.

OP, I did something similar in a Fiat 500 rental when my 2011 was having it's steering rack replaced. Of course I just laughed my *** off since it was a rental. Pretty sure the computer is going to keep you from doing any real harm to either engine or trans. Lots of safeties in place these days.

I did something similar accidentally locking out 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 from D. Was surprised that the truck let me rev as high as it did without shifting, as I wasn't stepping in to the throttle, I noticed it pretty much right away when I was at 4000 RPM and not shifting.

I miss the way my old (2011) Sonata with paddle shifters worked. I could set it to manual mode and then just stomp on it and it would get to about 1k RPM from redline and automatically shift (usually skipping a gear or 2).

Nah you're good. Question, you didn't hear your engine revving at 5k RPM's? That is some excellent sound deadening haha.

You get used to the shifting after a bit. I pretty much let go of the shift lock button once it gets out of park and it slides through R-N-D but stops there. It won't let you go from D to M without pressing the lock button again.
