This is false, your truck is fine OP nothing to worry about.
If it was not meant to rev that high I am sure Ford would lower the rev limiter.

Either way, the OP's truck should be fine, as I mentioned earlier the engineers at Ford would not let it rev that high if it were damaging.

Anyone ever accidentally have it in tow haul mode and gone down a steep hill and wonder why your rpm just jumped to 4500 rpm. I've done that one a few times.

O.P you could tow up a steep hill for miles @5000 rpm and be fine.

 

Yep, had that happen. It's like a hill descent control

 

sport mode works great for hill descent

 

just wait and see after 1000km

 

 

What does this even mean? Vague much? I welcome any information, in detail, that you have. I screwed up with my truck shifter and I asked a reasonable question as to any possible consequences.
