A couple of tips from a black truck owner, wax it with at least two coats initially, and then every 3 months or so. Also get mudflaps front and rear, fronts help keep dust off the sides and rears help keep dust off the tailgate.
Good luck with the new ride!

That said, I sure would like the tailgate off your ruby red, if it has the tailgate step.
Sorry no step, and the truck is off to the auction house/salvage yard. A friend of mine is in that business, and they make a boat load of cash buying wrecked cars, quite interesting actually.

I have a really good detail shop close to me so I will be stopping in and getting some level of treatment. I was thinking of mudflaps, saw the gatorback stepbacks and they look nice. My wife and kids thought I spent a lot of time keeping my Ruby Red clean, it may be a full time job....lol

I am glad everything worked out for you. I also am the proud owner of a RR Lariat Sport and get many compliments on the color. I am also pretty picky regarding how my vehicles look and I am telling you from personal experience that going with a black one this time is an entirely new level of taking care of a vehicle.

For me, NEVER again. I actually ended up selling the vehicle because I just couldn't keep it looking as good as I wanted it to. I hope you enjoy our new ride!

So glad everything worked out well for you. This is exactly why I bought an F-150: safety features. Not only does the truck protect you from other people's mistakes, if you have the lane-keeping assist, impending collision warning, BLIS, surround cameras, etc, it can protect you from making a driving error that would result in a crash. My fabulous King Ranch has repeatedly saved me from stupid driving errors, including being sleepy behind the wheel. Enjoy your new truck!

Thanks I am looking forward to the new rig for sure. It is actually quite alarming today the number of people with their head down looking at their phone, I do a lot of road cycling and every other driver seems like they are looking down. As for maintaining the black truck, I found any darker colour a PITA, including Ruby. I will be adding to my detailing collection of waxes and sprays to keep her looking good.

Glad it worked out an your happy but I have to agree a black truck would be a no go for me.
I had 1 black car an it seemed all I did was wax and detail, a black truck would be a nightmare for me lol.

I am a sucker for punishment what can I say....I found a few products that with a quick spray and wipe down the truck looks great, honestly I would spend the same time on my Ruby anyway....

Default Structural total, economically repairable

Add in any costs of bringing it back for additional repairs and you are well over 20 grand. Cheaper and easier for the insurance company to write a check and get it over with.
Working in the auto side of insurance I've seen many of these same hits come across my desk. The problem is, the center floor and B pillar will require replacement. When cutting both sections out the rest of the cab is unstable, there isn't a "JIG" setup for this type of repair so they end up structurally totalled.

tldr: Economically due to the price of the truck they are repairable but not structurally.

Check out Black Light from Chemical Guys. Used it on the Tuxedo Black and it made the paint just POP!
