Default Reprogramming computer for bigger tires

Does $130 sound right for reprogramming the computer on my truck for bigger tires? I went from 265 60 18 to 275 65 18.
Is there a cheaper way? Is it absolutely necessary to get it done? Could I just remember what the speedometer difference is or does it also mess with other stuff?

Many states require it. Not only will your speed be off odometer will also.
You can buy a hypertech and do it yourself or use forscan and do that and a whole lot more.

I'd go the forscan route. I bought a $60 win10 tablet and a mxbt OBDII.

Read livnitup's thread. He has put a lot of work into figuring out programming our computers and made a really good tutorial.

Thought the dealer could not modify tire size on the current gen trucks (2015+)...

Ok, I have a laptop with Bluetooth and windows 10, I set up an account on the forscan forum, so now I just need to buy this?
Amazon Amazon

I looked at livnitup's thread. There's ALOT of information there. I couldn't find how to change the wheel size. Will that be an easy or advanced programming one?

That's the one I bought. Seems to work the best by the posts I've read.

For tire size, open Livnitup's tutorial. Look for his testing spreadsheet. In the spread sheet there are links to step by step instructions. It's a little involved but doesn't look super hard.

I went from the stock tires, 30.9" tall 275/55-20 to 35x12.5-20

My speedometer is off by 3mph when i'm going 60mph, confirmed by GPS.

Not worth it to me to reprogram, I just remember i'm going a few MPH faster than what my speedometer is showing.

Did you know this? I'm thinking I'll just let the dealership do it. This is the only reason I would buy one of these things so if it doesn't completely fix the issue, it's not worth it for me. Thanks for all the help.

Bet the time you get stopped by a cop, he won't buy it. Nowadays, with speedometers so tightly calibrated, you probably won't be let off. Say doing 75mph by speedo in 70mph zone, you are doing more like 79 or 80. Easy pickings as a fund raiser for some local constable.
